As Lisner Animal Hospital, our first step is to get to know you and your pet. Depending on the pet, a trip to the veterinary office can sometimes have them feeling a bit shy. We like to start our visits with an introduction to your pet to help make them feel more safe and comfortable.
Then, we will make note of your pet's health, habits, behaviors, and routines. This includes details surrounding exercise, behavior traits, temperament. bowel movements, diet, or any other concerns you may have. During this, your pet has more time to relax while you get to know our veterinarians better!
Next comes the physical exam! We do a full-body exam, paying close attention to your pet's eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, coat, and skin. This helps us spot any potential signs of illness. If we notice any warning signs here, we may proceed to more in-depth exams or tests to help us tend to the issue. If your pet looks healthy, we will focus on how we can best ensure that he/she stays healthy. This includes common preventative medicine such as vaccinations and parasite control for fleas, ticks, heartworms, etc. Sometimes, there is also a need for non-medical health control such as weight management, dental hygiene, skin care, or tips for healthier fur.
